engaged in culloden house , Inverness Scotland.

melissa  &  shane
Engagement Story Christmas 2006 shane produced two tickets for a holiday in Dubai for April 2007.Between christmas and April 2007 I had pestered shane enough to tell me why we were going so he told me that he was planning on proposing but not allowed anymore details. When we arrived at Dubai we were chauffeured to the Burj Al Arab seven star hotel thats out in the middle of the sea. After having a nosey to see if there was any A or Z list celebs about and putting as many hermes products from the bathroom into my case we decided to go RING shopping the next morning. So being in Dubai i tried on gigantic rocks of all different shapes and sizes and after going to millions of jewellers i decided on the first ring i saw in the very first shop! (typical i suppose) so the ring was collected the next day and that night shane propsed at a candlelit dinner on the beach-ONE THE MOST EXCITING AND BEST DAYS OF OUR LIVES

anita maria  &  jim
Jim told me we were going into town for a "casual" dinner the week before xmas. We were walking up Grafton St.and decided to have a look at the Brown Thomas christmas window (as we do every year) whereupon he produced the most perfect pear shaped diamond ring and popped the question!! We celebrated with Champagne in the Westbury, dinner and danced the night away in lillies!

Alma  &  Noel
Noel Proposed to me on the 30th of November 2002 just 3 weeks after i had our little girl. He took me out for dinner and was going to propose but i had invited his brother and partner aswel not knowing what was going on, the meal was fantastic so we got home and just before we went to bed he proposed to me in our room. I was shocked and very happy and now we are getting married, he is the best partner you could ask for Love You Noel Always. Alma Callaghan

Mairead  &  Emmet
It was christmas morning 2006 @6 AM & I was 6 mths pregnant on our second child. WE had done Santy downstarirs with our son when he called me upstairs. I knew it was for my present as he nevers wraps them. HE handed me 2 boxes with earnings & a ring then took out a third yellow box which I saw was from Weirs!!! And more or less mumbled something, when I asked if he was going to get down on 1 knee he said"Do you want it or not". I then had it booked 2 weeks later & we're getting married in Sept 08

Rachel  &  Tomas
I had a bad day in work and got a terrible haircut, I was on the verge of tears over my hair, when Tomas took my hands, told me I was the love of his life, got down on one knee, and said marry me.

michelle  &  kenneth
kenneth proposed on christmas morning, it was a big shock although it shouldn't of been as we have been together for 13 yrs. better late than never i say!

seana  &  andrew
got engaged on a beach @ malin head the most northlyest place in ireland while it was blowing a gale & pouring with rain but i seen the funny side of it and said yes

Ber  &  Sean
Sean and I met in college in Maynooth. He was a year ahead of me in our science degree and after I graduated I ended up doing my PhD in the same lab he was in. We were friends for a few years (and at that stage living with each other about 4 months) before we started going out. We've lived with each other ever since and we bought our first home together in 2006. Even after all that I was still surprised (in a very good way) when he proposed. Sean proposed to me on Christmas morning. I wasn't expecting it at all. We had talked about getting married eventually and I always thought that I was the more eager to do it sooner rather than later but obviously I was wrong. Christmas morning I woke about 6.45 am and Sean kissed me good morning and asked me to give him a few minutes before I get up. I knew he hadn't put my Christmas present (diamond earrings lucky me!!) down under the Christmas tree the night before (as he knew I'd be peeking) so I presumed he was searching it out. Anyway I fell back asleep and about 15 minutes later he called me. I went downstairs and there he was down on one knee in the middle of the sitting room holding the most perfect engagement ring. He ahd lit candles all around the room and had my favourite christmas song, (have yourself a merry little christmas by Judy Garland) on the stereo. It was just perfect and of course after about 10 mintues of saying 'oh my God' I said yes. He had even went to talk to my Dad a few days before, which I know my Dad would have really appreciated.

susan  &  darren
darren asked me to marry him at 00.20am on 31/12/2007. he had planned on doing it at midnight on 31/12/2007 but he said he was so nervous that he could not wait any longer and he said new years morning was just as gopod as ne years eve night, of course i said yes, he treats me like a princess and I could not ask for more.

rosemarie  &  declan

Nicole  &  Gavin
Myself & Gavin goe engaged on Friday 30th November! I was just in from work very tired and cranky cause i was soaked as Gavin was late to pick me up so i walked home. I was sitting upstairs in my pink dressing gown when Gavin called me down stairs as i'm stubborn and was still in bad form it took a bit of persuading, little did i know that there was loads of candles surrounding my bed! There was candles in the shape of a love heart on the bed and in the middle sat a small box. When He got down on one knee i was in shock and said yes! It was the happiest moment of my life and i forgave him straight away for not picking me up ha. Next day i was celebrating my 21st/ engagement at a lovely meal with friends & family surrounding me. We set a date for January 13th 2011, the day of our 5th anniversary. I can't wait and am gonna start organising straight away. After all 3 years isn't long when i'm planning the biggest most happiest day of my life. Love you Gavin x

Pamela  &  Martin
Myself and my Hubby to be had split for about a month and i had organised myself to travel to Australia for a year to visit some friends of mine. I had put this info up on my Bebo page and my hubby to be was looking at it and he realised that he couldn't live without me and rang me up one night out of the blue and asked me. I said yes straight away as we had been together for 7 years and i love him to bits. We are no happily planning our wedding for May 2009.

Lisa  &  Greg
Greg proposed to me in West Cork in August 2005 but due to circumstances at the time we waited til 2007 to actually buy a ring etc., While on a trip to New Zealand we bought my 18ct gold 7diamond ring. When we returned, Greg and myself took a trip to Cavan and Greg had a wee word in my dad's ear and that was that!!!Now its all systems go.

Belinda  &  Trevor
Trevor and Belinda headed to Costa Blance, South Spain. They went for a swim in the Medeterran Ocean. Trevor asked Belinda to marry him, and she sais 'I will' ahh.

Orla  &  Barry
On a Wednesday, so I was extra surprised! Was sitting at home watching dvd, went upstairs to change into pyjamas and himself followed me up. Was wondering where my 4th pillow was gone off the bed, failed to notice the little square box sitting on top of the 3rd pillow as it was almost the same colour as the pillow case......... Poor pet had to practically tell me it was there! Once the giggles stopped, he said the all important words and then the planning began!! Delighted!! Apparently he had planned it to happen in Barcelona while we were on holidays at the beginning of the month but my ring didnt arrive in time....... hopefully that'll be the only case of bad luck!

Fiona  &  Anthony
Quite surprised the day we got engaged! Wasn't planned or anything ,just decided that morning to get engaged! Its funny though because on that day i decided we would get married before having kids but guess what...didnt happen that way! On 26th October 2006 our son Ethan arrived. Quite surprised i got pregnant so quick but he is the best little boy ever and wouldnt be without him. Here i am on 1st March 2008 and we are getting married this year on the 17th October, my 32nd birthday. Cant believe its finally happening.

Amanda  &  John
We decided to go to Australia for a year and on the way there had a stopover in Dubai. We had talked about getting engaged but i assumed it would on the way home. We were out for a meal when he asked me to marry him i really thought he was joking so kind of laughed it off (how mean!!). The next day he had booked a taxi and would not tell me where we were going. He then brought me to the Gold Souke which is like a womans paradise of a full street of jewellery shops we stood outside in the worst heat i have ever experienced he asked again this time i said YES. We picked out the ring but it had to be sized. That night he had booked a meal in the most fab restaurant. The nest moring i woke up in the hotel room and he was gone presuming he had gone to the pool i went back to sleep next thing i woke up with him on bended knee beside the bed with the ring in his hand. Then he asked me again i said Yes of course. Well if he can ask me that question when i look how i do in the morning he is for sure the man of my dreams....

Erin  &  Patrick
He hid the ring in one of those wooden dolls that you open till you get to the smallest little doll and the ring was inside that one! brilliant

Deborah  &  Marc
Marc and I met in work at a Christmas party just over four years ago. I've never met a more romantic man. On our first valentines day together he brought me to Copenhagen and has been surprising me ever since. We decided to buy a house together early last year and bought it last June. My birthday is in July and Marc asked me to take some time off work so we could have a break together before we moved in to the house. He surprised me with a holiday to the Maldives and on our first night he proposed to me on the beach as the sun set. He gave me a ring he designed and had made for me. I honestly had no idea and when we returned from holiday, everyone guessed what had happened! We've only just agreed this morning, 7 months later on a date and will be getting married in August 2008. I'm really excited and suddenly daunted by all we have to organise but now it's my turn to surprise him on the big day!

joanne  &  tony
myself and tony are together for the past 8 years,he's a dublin man and of course i was a wee gal moving up from the country to work.the 1st day i arrived i met tony and became the best of friends.a year of friendship and from then on it's been year's of love.we got engaged the 2nd of january this year.....my best friend of course know all about it and offered to take my 6 month old boy away for a few hours, thought nothing of it and myself and tony went for a drive out to howth, our special place(and plus i wanted to pick up some fresh fish!!)so while we were there we decieded to take full advantage of our free time together and we went for a long walk on the beach.tony was been very jumpy and gittery and half way up the beach we stopped to sit and watched the sea....down on one knee and asked me to marry him,i was in total shock.....and even more shocked when he pulled out a beautiful ring in which he picked out himself......when i eventually closed my mouth i was more than happy to say YES.

Ann  &  Alan
I am a true romantic and when I met Alan over 7 years ago, I knew I had met my soulmate. Last November we booked a weekend in Sligo but unfortunately we had to cancel it as i ended up with food poisoning. Needless to say Alan was very disappointed about not being able to go as little did i know that he had a surprise up his sleeve!! i felt better on the Monday so we headed for Wexford for the night. After dinner he proposed with the most beautiful ring. I cried with joy and said YES! We are now looking forward to becoming husband and wife in February 2008.

suzanne  &  derek
Derek proposed to me on Christmas Eve at the Mill in Maynooth he waited to do it on my favourite day of the year, i thought that was special. The date we chose for our wedding is the anniversary of our first date. 17th September 2008.

Brian  &  Sarah
Hi, got engaged last weekend (27-01-07). We had it all arranged, so no real suprise. However, while Sarah was down town I did buy a bunch of flowers, a small bottle of champagne and some fruit pastilles (her favourite)! I also made up a document with various photographs of both of us - starting with baby photographs and finishing with a recent photos of us - that went down well, a lot of people enjoyed it. We bought the ring in Jack Murphy Jewellers in Newry - highly recommended. Celebrated that night with both families and friends. Wedding wise, we already have the church and hotel booked, so we're fairly well sorted at the moment. Regards,

siobhan  &  siobhan edwards
we got engaged at my childhood best friends wedding in england. it was my first time seeing her in 10 years which made it extra special. by the time we get married we'll be together 8 years!!!!

Hayley  &  Ken
Myself and Ken met while at work. He worked with me for ages beore i even knew his name!!! After probably a year or more working together it took 2 friends to practicly push us together! Well it was obviously a good thing as after going out for about two and a half years and after having a lovely little boy, we got engaged on Christmas Day 2005. We are now mad busy planning every little detail for our big day next September. We cant wait!!!

Jessica  &  Edward
We have been together for 8 years now, and have two beautiful little girls, aged 6yrs and 4mths. Edward is not a very romantic guy but when he finally decided to propose he managed some romance and blew me away. He arranged a babysitter told absolutely nobody what his plans were and booked a restaurant. On Saturday 23rd September I was brought to Browns Barn and had a very romantic meal and he handed me a very expensive watch. I was thrilled receiving presents for no reason, then we drove up the mountains and he stopped overlooking all the lights in dublin the view was amazing. he opened my door got down on one knee and proposed with a beautiful white gold solitaire ring, i was shocked, so shocked i couldn't take it in so I said ask me again and he did and of course i said yes. he then produced a huge bunge of flowers from the boot of the car and told me he loved me. My dad died a few years ago but he asked my mam for my hand in marraige and she was thrilled. When we arrived home my little girl was over the moon as she has been asking us when we were going to finally get married. She said oh We'll be a real family now.!! We have decided to marry 30th May 2008 as that is the date we first met and we will be 10 years together 2008. I can't wait to be Mrs. Jessica Sherwin, and of course to see the look on my little girls face when we say the words 'I do'.

sabrina  &  eric
Eric and I have been together for 3and a half years,we met through my sister and eric's best friend who are also engaged to each other, Eric proposed on september 15th last yr exactly 4wk's after the birth of our beautiful daughter Sophie! He proposed to me on a very rainy thursday evening in front of our 3 girls, and got down on one knee, he brightened that rainy thursday and every before and since then, it may not be everyone's idea of a typical romantic proposal but as were soul mates he knew that was exactly how I wanted it, with the girls looking on and giggling while waiting for me to say YES!!! I did and cant wait until we are husband and wife.

Diana  &  Alan
Alan and I have been going out for over 7 years so when we finally decided to get engaged i was so happy. We bought the ring november last year and decided to keep it a while until the moment was right. Well the right moment happend whan I was surprised by being whisked away to Edinburgh for the Easter bank holiday, Alan got down on one one knee in Edinburgh castle and proposed. It was really romantic and definetly something we will never forget. Alan also had asked my father before we went away if he was allowed to marry me which is a nice tradition, and my father really appriciated being asked first. We are both so excited about planning our wedding and we still get on as well today as we did when we met over 7 years ago.

michelle  &  john
Michelle & John We met for the first time on the 18/12/05 after meeting on the interneta couple of weeks befor hand. We have since booked our church and reception and our big day is 02/08/08 and I cant wait Michellex

denise  &  Jimmy
Jimmy had been acting strange for about 2-3 weeks-i was woke up on rainy sat morning at 9.10. I was told we were going to get a surprise. Hesitantly i got up and when we started driving towards strandhill i thought we were going to the airport-Holidays yahoo-but we drove past that exit. We got down to the sea front and he said c'mon lets go for a walk. i thought he had lost it, it was so cold and wet. we walked a little down on the beach and then he got down on one knee-i asked'what are ya doing'. he propsed with a ring he had chosen-i did nt give him an answer for about 20 minutes i was so shocked. He had champagne in the car and a cd with all my favourite songs an all. Some of his and my family knew about it but said nothing. It was all very romantic and i loved the ring an all-we got a bigger one made but kept it the same design, setting etc- We set a date for aug 2006

Rebecca  &  Maurice
Myself and Maurice Met Speed-Dating....I am completely embarrassed of the fact but a giggle turned into a night where I met my Prince Charming. They say you never know where you will meet Mr.Right. And on the way down the stairs to the room full of speed-daters I prayed that this was not the place I actually met my Mr.Right !!! But there he was across from me for 4 minutes, blue eyed and smiling....He got my tick. And so the story began, 4 minutes, 1 tick and 24 hours later I received an email from the organizers with the list of men who ticked me - I was only interested in one..Maurice. After that we emailed and got braver and called....then came the first date - there he was smiling away with a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates...he knew what he was doing. 9 months later we live in our own home and can't wait to get married. As for the engagement I was brought away on a surprise weekend to Egypt. There we were standing by the pyramids when Maurice dropped to his knee and recited a poem to me which ended with 'Will you Marry me'. We are getting married on the 30th June 2006 and I can't wait for the big day !!!!

Wendy  &  Matt
Wendy& Matt At the outset it wasnt the most romantic. We had been together for nearly four years and were buying a house together so it was pretty obvious to everyone we were heading for wedding bells. We had started looking at engagement rings for ideas so hubby2b matt knew what to Suprise me with! Suprisingly we found the most perfect ring in fields when we were in the middle of getting a ring designed by a jewellers in powerscourt. We were unsure what we wanted and went to try on lots of different types and found THE ring. We put a deposit on there and then but i wasnt to know when or where the big question would be popped. My dad hinted that i might want to look for my passport, just in case. I got so excited and tore up my room! I ended up in tears, I couldnt find it, maybe I lost it when we came back from america. Was picked up at 9 in the morning on the 23rd for an anniversary weekend away in the country. It wasnt til we parked in long term parking of dublin airport it hit me. Matt had stolen my passport weeks ago and booked us a romantic hol i Paris. Paris!! How much more romatic can you get?Hotel was gorgeous and the site seeing was fantastic. We saw the Eiffle Tower, Notre Dame, The Louvre. It was so idealic. I had so much fun. We were in the Jardin de Luxemburg, a fantastic castle and gardens when he sat me down on the grass and pulled out the ring and whispered in my ear would I be his wife. Ok so i knew it was coming when i saw how strange he was acting but it was so exciting to finally hear those words and to see the ring sparkle in the sunlight. How could i say anything but yes? I couldnt stop looking at the ring all day and he was so pleased that i was so happy with it and with him. I rang my parents and we texted our friends and the ran off back to some more sightseeing before heading back to the hotel to celebrate.A year on we have 6 months til the big day and Im so excited I just cant wait!

Amber  &  Jerrod
Jerrod and I had been dating for 9 years, before we both agreed we wanted to make the commitment of becoming engaged. As we had been together from such a young age, we both wanted to be sure we were making the right decision before rushing into a lifelong commitment.

Aoife  &  Darren
A whirlwind romance after New Year and we were engaged on Valentines weekend. I was very emotional cause I was moving House that weekend and saying goodbye to some of my friends. Darren was helping me, he got down on one knee and proposed!! Of course I said yes, I knew from our first date that he was the one I'd been waiting for :)

pamela  &  paul
paul let me open all my christmas pressies and then said there is one more. so he started to open a little box and in my own mine i was thinking (hello you bought me a pressies and you are opening it!!). then he said will i marry him so i started to cry and he had to ask me again to get an answer. eventually i cried of course!!

Michelle  &  Ronan
It was our six year anniversay and Ronan took me out for a lovely Italian meal. After dessert Ronan said he wanted to give me a present. He gave me a lovely gold ring which he said was to replace one I had lost earlier in the year. After a few minutes he then gave me another ring - a beautiful yellow gold three stone ring. I was not expecting this and at first it didn't register with me that this was an engagement ring - so much so that I asked Ronan what I was suppossed to do with the ring! Very romantic indeed! It was at this point that he got down on one knee and proposed. I was so thrilled but I still couldn't help crying! So after that it was tell the parents and friends the following day and it has been great excitment since setting the date etc.

Rozz  &  Simon
Simon gave me 3 gifts on our travels around Europe, one gift in Madrid, one gift in Paris and the final gift was a ring in abox. He placed each gift behind my back and asked me to open my eyes and take what was there! What a surprise. He knew Rome meant so much to me bcause I studied degree and masters in Greek and Civ and Rome particularly appealed to me! WE had been goijng out for 6 years and living together for 3! Marriage in a year and a half and counting!yip!

Jenna  &  Matthew
Matthew and myself got engaged on my 21st birthday

Brian  &  Niamh
You know the usual... everyone made a fuss over Niamh and the bloke gets "what are you havin?"... Great day snots & tears, plenty of champagne and plenty of screaming into the phone to her mother!

Antoinette  &  Paul
Was swept off my feet by Paul the love of my life when he gave me a fabulous solitare Diamond with a kiss on each side of the Diamond and forever engraved on the inside of the band. It was the best Christmas present ever and we can't wait for our special day in May 06.

Joanne  &  Gerard
We were in the process of moving into our new home going to be living together for the first time. We have been talking about getting engaged for a long time but something always came up. One day we were in a jewlery shop looking at rings and gerry was asking silly questions about which one did I like. We were going to tenerife a week later with a few friends while over there we went for a walk on the beach and there was a small boating dock and we sat down watching the waves coming in so relaxing and gerry got down on one knee and pulled out the most magnificent ring( The one I wanted) and asked me to be his wife. And then three months later we set a date.

Dee  &  Fran
I was driving home on a wet rainy Wednesday in November. I wasnt in the best mood as work was really stressful and the drive home was horrible. My boyfriend met me at the front door, led me into our front room where the fire was lit, candles everywhere and he told me to sit down and relax. Then he came in from the kitchen with a can of diet coke (i'm addicted) and a Kinder egg. I was so hungry that i instantly started to eat my Kinder egg and then started to complain when i opened the inside and there was only cotton wool instead of a surprise toy! Fran was by this stage kneeling in front of me and i still did'nt realise what was going on. Then i looked into the cotton wool and there was a beautiful solitare, i swear i couldnt have picked a more beautiful ring myself. My first words were (so romantic) "can we affoard this" - it just looked so big and beautiful and he had only spent the night before talking about our budget for the next year (we are renovating a house). It seems this was all part of Frans plan to make sure i thought that a wedding/engagement was a long way off! After much screaming, crying and kisses we went into the Kitchen where there was two very expensive bottles of Krug Champagne on ice and we proceeded to call our family and friends who subsequently came out for drinks and a great night followed. Fran had spent the whole day seperating the chocolate in the egg with a heated knife, then placing the ring inside and sealing it all up again! I couldnt believe the time and energy he had put into this TOTAL surprise and if it was possible i loved him even more than ever that night. That was in November 03 and we decided to get married on 2nd September 2005. Very long engagement but we wanted to get more work done on the house first. So here we are, 8 months to the big day and not a day goes by when i dont look at my lovely ring and think of my lovely man and our life together.

Susan  &  Blake
Blake and I met 3 years ago and fell in love with one another at first sight. Although we have had to face many opsticals to get to where we are today we made it and now we are finally going to be able to show the world what it means for not only lovers to be married but the best of friends also. Blake is my rock and he is truly the love of my life.

Roisin  &  Simon
Simon got down on one knee, on the moonligt evening of December 30th last year, and proposed, down by the Corrib, at Spanish Arch, in Galway! He had the ring on him, and I couldn't WAIT to get it on me!!!

Emily  &  David
I met Dave 3 years ago, I knew I would marry him a few weeks later. He asked me last September as he was going down the country to college for a couple of months, I was exstatic and we bought a beautiful ring on Christmas Eve and told everyone 4 days later!! I'm marrying my best friend, the person who is always there for me and the only man I've ever loved

Fionnuala  &  Hugh
We met in a local bar / nightclub on 15th Dec 2002, which he DJs in. It was a sunday night and i was driving so myself and my friend offered him a lift home. He wouldnt stop talking and my friend wanted to get home so she gave him my number to get rid of him!! In August this year we went to Egypt and had a fantastic holiday. On the last night, he took me on a cruise boat on the nile and got down on 1 knee!! The manager of the boat then come over to tell us to stop kissing because we were offending the Arab families!

Martina  &  Brian
My H2B said he was taking me away for the weekend, wouldn't tell me where, frightened me into thinking I was going to Tory Island on a Boat (normally would be okay with that but not in early february!). Discovered at the check in desk in Dublin Airport I was going to London, had booked us into a beautiful hotel near Tower Bridge. Took the Tour of the Tower on the Saturday Morning, Afternoon Tea and a bit of Shopping in Harrods in the afternoon and then he produced tickets for the Phantom of the Opera, cue Tears! More Tears during the Phantom, about three times I think, couldn't believe I was there.... Next morning a walk up to see Lizzie in Buck Castle and then a trip on the London Eye where he asked me to marry him when we were at the very top. I checked it wasn't the altitude had affected him only to realise it wasn't, he meant it. More Tears, I said yes, blubbered a bit more, back down to earth for lunch and the flight home. Very romantic weekend, just the two of us, will always stay in my heart and he will always keep a hanky in his pocket in future just in case!

Ciara  &  Ciaran
ciaran and I met siz years ago originally as pen palls (email palls really) we met up when ciaran came from Belfast to DUblin for the night with his friend. He returned to Belfast on New YEars even and rang me at 12pm to say he wanted to be more than friends. I went up to Belfast 2 weeks later to see him and nothing happened all weekend until at the train station on the way home, he kissed me, and rest they said is history! I moved to Belfast 2 years later and we have bought a house 2 years ago.

Niamh  &  David
David and I met through an online dating site. After few mails in each direction we met on one of the organised nights out. We had our first date the next night. Even though David mentioned marriage on our first date (he was a fast mover!!) I didn't actually pick out the ring for another 3 months. After another 6 months we hit New Year's Eve (2003). We had decided to become 'officially' engaged on this date, although nobody else had any idea, after all we only knew each other 9 months!! So, David drove up to a viewpoint where we could see all of Dublin, all lit up. It was pouring with rain, so there was no way I was getting out of the car. David was still going to do this properly, so he got out and went round to my side armed with a tissue (for him to kneel on, not for the tears!!), asked me to marry him. I paused, he got panicky, I accepted and he......................................................................................... put the ring on the wrong finger!!! It took us another year to get our act together and actually book the big day!!

Susan  &  John
We got engaged last year a year after meeting up. I knew John had the ring but he wouldn't give it to me. I'd given up thinking about it when one morning he brought me breakfast in bed, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Maria  &  George
12.5 years together and just decided that the time was finally right!! Living together for 10 years so hoping that nothing will really change except my name!!

Allison  &  Domenico
Well Dom and I had been living together for 4 years and we'd been talking about getting engaged for yonks but there was always some bit of work to do on the house or a holiday to go on so we never really got around to it (great excuses, I know I know!) In Aprile this year My Mum and Dad were over for for a weekend and Dom very galantly asked for my hand over our Cornfalkes on Monday morning at 8.00 (Mum and Dad were flying out at 10.30!!) Needless to say since then the days are full of hectic phone calls back and forth between Milan and Ireland but we're getting there! I will however be expecting a gift from Telecom Italia and Telecom Eireann!!!

Amanda  &  Pete
We met in Paderborn, Germany in 1999. 3 weeks later I left Germany because my year abroad was up (part of uni). After spending the first year living in separate countries, I then moved back to Germany. A few months later, we decided to move to Dublin, stayed there 6 months and then moved to England, where we have been living for over 3 years. We got engaged in December 2001 and have been planning the wedding every since. The proposal came on the morning I was due to fly back to Ireland for Christmas (without H2B) - I guess he figured it was a good way of making sure that I came back afterwards!

Karen  &  Richard
We met each other 4 years ago at a friends 30th birthday, started chatting, and have been going out with each other on and off since then.. the past year we moved in with each other and have joked about getting married... then on Christmas Day I did think he was acting strangly and when I pulled my christmas cracker an engagement ring fell out... got to get those crackers again!!!

Joanna  &  Damian
Well myself and Damian are together for 7 years now so the pressure has been on us to get married! We resisted and a couple of years ago split up for six months. It wasn't good for either of us but we tried to stay on friendly terms. Then one memorable Friday night we were having dinner "as friends" and were sitting watching the TV after dinner, when out of the blue Damian turned around and said that he couldn't be without me any more! He told me he wanted to be with me always and to get old, gummy and crotchety together! Needless to say I was shocked but said Yes as soon as my brain started working again! We kept it to ourselves for almost a year and while we were in Oz last year for a friends wedding we went ring shopping and Damian proposed again (with the ring this time!) at the beach in St Kilda in Melbourne. It's been all go since then and we're counting the days until Saturday 2 October!

Susan  &  Ian
Well here it goes! Ian and I knew each other from work for about two years. We'd smile and talk and laugh - just like work friends. Then things changed - I realised I really liked him and he realised he really liked me - but as it always goes - neither of us knew how the other felt! Eventually on 21st Dec 02 we got together. Then exactly four months later Ian got down on bended knee and asked me to marry him! I immediately said "YES". The last 15 months have flown by, with Ian's mums wedding in Denmark (wow what an event!), both of us getting promoted in work and of course our own wedding plans. With just under a month to go I just can't wait!

Aoife  &  Russell
We met on July 13th 1997 (yes we don't believe in whirlwind romances!!) in Club 92, or the Club of Love as it's more commonly known. Four years passed and we had just enough money for mortgage approval so we bought our house, which left us flat broke & weddings were the furthest thing on the horizon at that time. Fast-forward 8 months though and things changed... forever! I decided to bring Russell to Paris as a surprise for his birthday in July 2002 - it was actually 10 days after the actual day because we were at a friend's wedding in the meantime. Anyway we were wandering around Paris & I mentioned that I thought the whole "Eiffel Tower proposal" was a bit naff, which was greeted with complete silence. We were in the Louvre & decided to head into the Jardin des Tuleries where there's a little amusement park & ferris wheel. Ru hates heights so I was amazed that I managed to persuade him to go on the ferris wheel with me. We were admiring the views of Paris & I was noseying into the apartments all around us when we got to the top, the wheel stopped and he asked me to marry him. How could I say no? Actually I said nothing but "omigod" repeatedly for about 5 minutes and then I managed to squeak a "yes" in response. I was bawling my eyes out & shaking like a leaf. We had to go for a drink at the bar to calm our nerves... not champagne mind you, but two pints of beer! Of course, I wanted to tell the whole world about it immediately, but I was told to keep quiet until the ring had been bought & permission had been sought from my dad. We got back home at 11pm on the Saturday night & were lined up outside the jewellers’ shops on Grafton St on Sunday at midday.. I wanted my ring ASAP! Luckily the ring was chosen that day - a perfect fit - and we told our family & friends about our wonderful news.
