Wedding Gift List !
Wedding Gift List !
A Wedding is the perfect opportunity, in fact, probably the only opportunity to unashamedly ask for what you want - within reason of course.

What’s more, since the Wedding List or Registry has taken off, the previously onerous task of choosing a gift has become a lot easier.

The Wedding List represents for the happy couple a sort of 'wish list' of goodies and of course necessities that they may like or need. Many people view the wedding list as a bit extravagant, but this really isn't the case. In fact, if devised properly and if you look closely it covers gifts across a range of prices.

However, now that society has altered and pre-marital cohabitation is the norm rather than the exception, has the wish list changed? Are couples asking for more luxury items or are the traditional items holding their own?

It is true that many lists tend to be more sophisticated nowadays and the range of goods more diverse. But a surprising number of old faithfuls still top the bill. Couples are, however, being very specific about what items they would like from identified ranges. They are also choosing items to match kitchen, bedroom, living or dining room color schemes in their home's style.

Even though the traditional cook wear, crystal, pottery, bed linen all make the list, the quality of these items must be coupled with style. For example, Waterford crystal has had a new lease of life since it association with designer names such as Louise Kennedy and John Rocha.

If the couple decides to leave the choice of gift up to you, don't fret. Keep quality and simple style to the fore and your bound to please. What about the couple who have everything? What about something for the garden? Think of what they already have and add to it. A couple of romantically named rose bushes, a lawn mower or strimmer. Why not get a small sculpture designed for their garden. They will always remember your gift!

How about some books? Try stifling the yawns please! Are your friend’s keen art lovers, amateur photographers, hill walkers or hobbyists of any kind? Maybe they would appreciate a handsomely produced reference book, limited art catalogue or state of the art guide to their particular interest.

How about a case of wine? Registering with a wine merchant is a growing trend among pre-nuptial wine buffs. Maybe a case or bottle of something for drinking on their 10th annversary?

Most importantly don't let it worry you. Just put some special thought into it. Your gift doesn’t have to cost the earth if it comes from the heart! So enjoy the shopping!
