Giving away wedding presents - would you dare? It was recently reported that Wills & Kate (you all know who I'm referring too) gave away a landrover that was given to them as a wedding gift.
In fairness to the couple, they had specified that they didn't want any wedding gifts, unlike the vast percentage of us mere mortals who are not in a position to do the same thing. However, it did get us thinking that if you look back at or are in the middle of receiving wedding gifts currently, what gifts would you give away?
It's actually quite a sneaky way of making yourself look good, giving away some God dam awful china set to a worthwhile charity when in fact the only other place you'd put it is the attic! Actually, you both win as the charity will find a home for it, after all one man's trash is another man's treasure and you can keep that space in your attic free.
The only conundrum is when your guest arrives to your house. Most likely a surprise visit, and asks about their gift, which the elder folk often do. Do you (a) insult them by saying it's in the attic (too nice to use every day!) or (b) tell the truth and hope they won't be offended???
I know what I'd do - do you?
