We recently hooked up with Melissa Littler, Marketing Director for BrandAlley.co.uk to get the low down & see what all the fuss is about!
1. So Melissa, who’s brainwave was Brand Alley or how did it come about?
Sven Lung, an internet entrepreuneur. started BrandAlley.com in France over four years ago then rolled it out into the UK and shortly Italy.
2. How does it work?
It's a private sales website so you get to hear about the best sales and bargains via email - no queues/crowds or parking problems. You simply register online
(which is currently free) to be among the first to hear of upcoming sales. We have a team of unbelievably savvy fashion buyers who deal directly with the designers and simply offer to buy over produced stock and sell it in a discreet way
3. What designers do you have on board?
BrandAlley.co.uk offers great designers such as DVF, D&G, Chloe, Karen Millen, Ghost, Marc Jabcobs, Sergio Rossi, John Galliano and more all at up to 80% off RRP.
4. What celebs wear them?
As we're online and discreet, we never reveal who is taking advantage of our fabulous bargains but we know in these recessionista times, celebs are becoming very savvy about their buying habits.
5. How is Brand Alley different to Chiconomise for example?
Choconomise simply informs you of the best sales and deals - we offer them!
6. Do you ship internationally & what are the costs?
At the moment only to the UK and ROI for £4.50
7. If the item doesn’t fit when it arrives – can I return it ?
Yes - within 14 days !
8. What % of your salary do you spend on fashion??
About 5-10% at the moment, I used to be far naughtier before I had a house to renovate!
9. Plans for expansion in 2009 ?
Organic growth is the focus for the UK in 2009. We are opening up in Italy shortly
10. What designers should we look out for in 2009?
More of the best - DVF, Damaris, D&G to name but a few.
11. Do you think bridal will feature in your sales?
Yes, we're planning a bridal sale for the future, devoted to everything a bride or groom could possibly need for their big day - all at up to 80% off, of course!
12. Any tips for shopping on-line?
Use a reputable site that you've heard of and has a UK team onhand to help.
Editor: This is a website to watch! We've bagged some really designer goodies already :)
