This mother-of-the bride lost over 13 stone for her daughter's Wedding. Fair play & well done!
Jane Burrowes shed a whopping 13 stone to get in shape for her daughter's wedding.
The 52-year-old, who tipped the scales at 23st 8lb, didn't want to embarrass daughter Kimon her big day. And when the wedding took place two weeks ago, Jane - weighing just 10st 2lb - took pride of place next to her daughter.
Jane started over-eating after she gave up her nursing career through back problems 15 years ago.
Before long she had doubled her body weight and, at once stage, Jane couldn't get out of bed and her husband Eddie had to help her to the toilet.
But when her daughter Kim announced her engagement just before Christmas 2004, she decided it was time to slim.
Jane, from Denny, in Stirlingshire, said: "I had known I was fat for years but had chosen just to ignore it. "I had loved my job and it was also my social life so when I had to give up I became really depressed and comfort-ate.
"My children would never have said anything about my weight but there was no way I was going to embarrass Kim by going to the wedding the way I was. "My confidence was also at an all-time low. I would rarely go out and if I did I would always dress in black and hide at the back. "It got to the stage where a combination of my weight and my bad back meant I could barely get out of bed. "But when Kim said she was getting married I knew it was time something was done."
Jane joined her local Slimming World and started going swimming.
The mum-of-two said: "It was daunting going to the pool at my size but I would go really early in the mornings."
On her new diet and exercise regime, the weight soon began to drop off.
Kim married 35-year-old Robert Bullard with her two-year-old daughter Paige, six-month-old twin sons Cole and Corry and her three nephews, Declan, Reece and Lewis, in attendance.
