Pop star Cheryl Tweedy and footballer Ashley Cole went to incredible lengths to keep their wedding "secret" yesterday.
But by yesterday afternoon the word was out that the star pair would tie the knot at Wrotham Hall on the outskirts of Barnet, North London. Cheryl arrived at the tiny Holy Trinity Chapel in the grounds of the 19th centurymansion at 5.15pm and kept her groom waiting for only a few minutes.
Ashley arrived in a silver Rolls- Royce accompanied by his best man, brother Martin. Once the cotton sheetwas removed, Cheryl looked radiant as she stepped into the chapel wearing a cream gown trimmed with Swarovski crystal detail.
She was accompanied by seven bridesmaids and three page boys. Ashley wore a white suit with white satin waistcoat, beige silk tie and sported a pink rose in his lapel. More than 100 guests attended the ceremony including Cheryl's showbiz pals and Ashley's football mates, including England teammate Sol Campbell.
The newlyweds paid over £5000 for the hire of Wrotham Hall - a 18th century mansion worth a whopping £15million. It has been the setting for films such as Gosford Park and has also featured in Inspector Morse.
Catering at the 18-bedroomed mansion costs around £100 per person plus drinks and a marquee in the grounds is £18,000.
