The singer, who had been dating the NFL star since May, showed off her Neil Lane ruby and diamond engagement ring at a store launch in Kansas City.

Her spokesperson confirmed the news to People.com, saying: "Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!"

Jessica's father Joe has already given the couple his blessing, writing on his Twitter page: "So very happy for Jess and Eric. May they have a lifetime of joy and happiness."

The 30-year-old singer gushed about her boyfriend, but didn't want to "jinx" their relationship.

"I couldn't ask for a better man in my life right now. I'm not gonna jinx my own self. He's the one for me right now," she said.

"I'm very happy, I'm in a great place, and if right now could last forever, I'd take it."
