A English bride who was taken to hospital after being flung from a horse and carriage on the way to her marriage ceremony finally had her dream wedding.
Sophie Clarke arrived in a Rolls Royce as she tied the knot with fiance Karl Wood in front of friends and family .
The couple were forced to cancel their first wedding in December when Miss Clarke, now Mrs Wood, and her father were thrown from a carriage as the horse bolted on the way to the church.
Mrs Wood was left in a bloodied heap in the road and stretchered to hospital with a bump to her head and injuries to her ankle.
Fearing for their lives, her father, 56-year-old Bob Clarke, had pushed his daughter out of the carriage before jumping out himself. Mr Clarke suffered chest pains, bruising to his elbow and a leg injury, and was taken with his daughter to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Mrs Wood was taken to hospital a second time a few days later after suffering a “turn for the worse”.
Speaking outside the church yesterday, the beaming bride said: “I am so happy. Everything has gone smoothly and we have had our dream wedding.”
Her husband added: “We got there eventually.”
When asked earlier today if she would be travelling by car to St Leonard’s Church in Bretforton, Mrs Wood joked: “I am definitely not having a horse and carriage this time.”
