How To Pop The Question ! February 2007 (Leinster Leader)March 20, 2007 10:57:12 AM
So Valentine's Day has always been one of the more popular days to propose.... :)

SimplyWeddings.com Pops the Questions

As the most romantic day of the year is upon us, it seems not everyone will be showered with tokens of love and romance. Kate Moss and Pete Doherty have reportedly split before we even had a chance to say Babyshambles who? Kelly Brook has supposedly said she ‘would never marry’ Billy Zane, months before their glitzy wedding in Greece scheduled for this summer.

However, don’t let this put you off ! Valentine's Day is one of the most popular days of the year to propose to the one you love.

SimplyWeddings.com asked our Brides-to-be the hard questions to make your life a little easier this February 14th and believe me it isn’t surprise trips abroad, long lingering dinners or a dozen red roses that us ladies want!

Firstly, an astonishing 60% of women questioned, would like their other half to have had proposed on Valentine’s Day. Rather than worrying about being too cheesy, you should be thinking the “old-fashioned” way. Results from this survey show that ladies love the Idea of their man getting down on one knee with a whooping 87% saying this would be have been an ideal way for their man to propose to them.

The personal touch outweighs the grand gesture when it comes to Valentine’s gift’s. We found that most women would prefer a hand picked bunch of wild flowers to out of season roses. Most women admitted they are impressed and find it rather romantic when their partner does household chores, cooks or remembers to collect the dry-cleaning!

Insurance companies have told us that engagement rings in champagne glasses (glug, glug, choke) proposing on top of, then sliding off mountains, and all those candlelit suppers bring many claims when it comes to proposing! Not the smartest way to start life together in an A & E room.

A surprising & disappointed 80% of women who were proposed too said that the proposal was "less romantic" than they had hoped for.
We also asked our brides to be, what is the most important qualities  a man should possess in order for you to say ‘yes’ this Valentine’s day?
Take note, the top ten are: Honesty, Love, Trust, Communication, Respect, Commitment, Humour, Support, Compassion and last but not least dependability.

Of those surveyed a surprisingly 54% said Valentine’s day is overwhelmingly the most romantic day of the year to propose, followed by Christmas 16%, a birthday12%, and New Years 18%.

Good Luck!
