Teacher Alison's €65k bride and joy by Danielle Malone
BRIDE-TO-BE Alison Plunkett wept tears of joy on live television after winning a Dream Wedding worth over €65,000.
Alison, a 28 year old teacher of German at Presentation Secondary School, Dublin, appeared on TV3 breakfast show, Ireland AM to claim her prize.
Both Alison and fiance Ian Healy (30) battled it out in the final against three other couples to scoop the once-off bonanza.
'I couldn't sleep a wink the night before the results were due', a delighted Alison said. 'Winning this competition means I can marry the man of my dreams in just three months from now'.
Alison and Ian fell in love after meeting at Johnny Fox's pub in Dublin. After just a year together, Ian proposed during a romantic holiday in Monaco, and the besotted duo began to plan their perfect wedding.
The competition was organised by SimplyWeddings.com in conjunction with The K-Club, Co Kildare.
Organiser Colette O'Loughlin explained: It's an unbelieveable prize. It started out as a couple of really nice items for the winning couple, but it quickly snowballed into something huge. 'Before we knew it, everyone was involved, and the prize kept getting bigger'.
